The Kermadec Trench is located just above the north coastline of New Zealand. The trench also contain arc islands that are also a part of New Zealand. On the west side of the ridge towards the northwest portion of the trench, is the getaway island of Fiji.
The Trench's most east latitude and longitude is located at 35 degree south and 178 degrees west. The latitude and longitude of the approximate center of the Kermadec trench is located at 31 degrees south and 175 degrees west
The Kermadec Trench stretches north for quite a long time before it turns into the Tonga Trench. Most acknolwedge this trench as the Tonga-Kermadec because of its proximity to each other, and almost identical features.
